Jelly Fish
This high-tech router is inspired by nature. It has been designed to become the centre of attention; a talking point which brings people together.
There’s no rationale behind the Jellyfish and that’s precisely why we love it. This router is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Goldsmiths really showed us what can be done with the innards of a router and a healthy dose of creativity.
Interestingly for a project based on wirelessness, the cables form a key part of this piece, encouraging users to connect with the router and each other when they surf.
This is our craziest design and we were given full creative license. We wanted to place the router at the centre of the community, at the heart of the house. We wanted to come up with a router that would live and breath; an organic element inspired by nature that would be emotionally engaging for its users.
The inspiration for this unit grew out of the study of fluorescent properties in jellyfish anatomy and their smooth movements through water. We have embodied this notion into a glowing breathing sequence, which indicates bandwidth strength.

this is huge. who would want that in the middle of their living room?
Pra que serve essa merda?
Mesmo que merdinha e esta?
and its a talktalk winner!! …. i dont think i need to explain my self there
OMG! I love this. Are you gonna start producing them? Seriously want one. Would be realy cool if you could have pulsating colours inside it depending on the amount of data being transfered, where to etc. Like those luminous jelly fish with the neon lights inside that travel along lines inside them. Now that would look amazing ^-^
Man, this site makes the geek in me incredibly happy, and the graphic designer in me crave inspiration from this. Truly remarkable concepts, and I would love it if these got on the market. I’d kill to have one. It’d make LAN parties a lot more fun!
Yeah. The future doesn’t have to look like Doctor Who, you know.
Please stop wasting time and money, put your finances and resources into supplying better broadband. What a joke.
I personally would prefer some small & gadgety rather than something hugh like this in middle of a room.
Create something that blends in with its surrounding rather than standing out. Also this is not at all practical for normal households that have kids.
Whow looks like this is going 2 be in every cool loungebar i now.
sooo dam iamm a gamer and i go to a lot of lanparty’s and if they make a switch with this design whoo so cool!!!!!!
if this one come on the market i buy it!!!!!
its to cool
is this product already on the market?
so yes where and how much is the price?
Who in their right mind would want a router like this? Routers aren’t meant to be “sexy!” They are just meant to do their bloody jobs and work.
Even though this is very prettie I can only see this being popular in just a few homes, this is because of the space it takes up, however this aside it is a great Idea for the following reason;
If the device was used as a router and not a network hub i.e it could have a switch on it to disable networking. you could then put this device in public spaces, so people could plug in there laptop and enjoy free broadband without having to worry about the security of there wireless.
I work in IT and I know about the threats that are lurking out there, did you know you could be sitting in an cafe with free Internet and while you think you are connected to the cafes router you could be connected to a hackers box that is routing you the internet but giving the hacker full control over your PC (SCARY HUH).
for this reason alone I would give this device a 10/10
Wow! That’s really cool! Where can I get one?
